Dr. Emmerich Fuchs, Founder and Managing Director

Dr. Emmerich Fuchs has been active as an entrepreneur for more than 10 years, where the main focus lay on automotive electronics and similar industries utilizing distributed embedded systems.

As one of the founders and Managing Directors of DECOMSYS (now Elektrobit Austria) he was active in formation of the FlexRay Consortium (www.flexray.com) and its first Administrator during the Phase-I of the Consortium from 2000 - 2005. During that timeframe the Consortium grew from four Core Partners to over 100 companies world-wide with all major automotive OEMs, TIER-1 suppliers, semiconductor manufacturers and tool vendors participating in the creation of a global standard for advanced distributed control systems, called FlexRay®. Now with FlexRay being used in several series cars including BMW and Audi and the FlexRay specifications on the way for standardisation at ISO this vision has become a reality.

Prior to founding DECOMSYS Dr. Fuchs was working for Daimler-Benz Research, Berlin in a joint EU-funded project with Vienna University of Technology and several other partners from the transportation industries.

Dr. Fuchs holds a technical doctorate degree and a Dipl.-Ing. degree both from the Vienna University of Technology. He is an alumni of the executive education program (OPM37) at Harvard Business School. Dr. Fuchs was born 1969 in Oberpullendorf, Burgenland, Austria is married with two children and lives in Vienna, Austria.
